Beethoven Revisited-EPK

Modern interpretations of this repertoire often adhere strictly to Beethoven’s notation, overlooking important expressive elements familiar to musicians of his time – such as character, cantabile, and tempo rubato. Beethoven Revisited explores alternative approaches to these works by drawing on historical performance practices, breathing new life into them with greater dramatic impact and variety. Together with early keyboard specialist Artem Belogurov, our interpretations have been informed by research into Beethoven’s contemporaries and students such as Carl Czerny and Ferdinand Ries, leading to a radically new approach to tempo flexibility, arpeggiation, rhythmic freedom, and ornamentation.
